Cake Servings Chart

Every common cake size converts into a fixed band of servings — once the slice size is agreed.

Serving counts start with the slice. The standard party portion is a piece 1.5 inches wide by 2 inches deep, and every round-cake number below assumes that cut.

At the party cut, a 6-inch round yields 8-12 servings, an 8-inch yields 12-20, a 10-inch yields 20-30 and a 12-inch yields 30-40. The spread inside each band comes down to cutting discipline: a steady hand lands near the top of the range, generous slices near the bottom.

A half-sheet pan measures 12 x 18 inches, or 216 square inches of cake. Cut into 3 x 3-inch pieces it serves 24; cut into 2 x 2-inch pieces it serves up to 54.

Tiered cakes simply add their tiers together. The classic 6, 8 and 10-inch stack produces roughly 40-60 servings — the full working is on the home page — and a 12-inch base tier pushes the total higher still.

Once the size is settled, the next question is timing: the order timeline page counts back from the event date, and the storage page covers holding the finished cake at 2-8 °C until it is served.
